Which is a better product to build your fence out of Timber or Steel ? Due to the high rainfalls on the Atherton Tablelands and low lying areas on the coast, in my opinion timber is best. In dryer western areas steel is best. What type of timber ? Definitely hardwood, and preferably Yellow Stringy or Iron Bark. What type of wire should I use ? In my opinion, Tablelands and coastal areas should be Waratah Blue High Tensel. As for barbed wire I prefer the Waratah 1.8mm over the 1.57mm, which is approximately $10 more. For dryer and western areas I recommend the 2.5mm which is fire resistant. A third of our work is replacing steel fences which have corroded or rusted off 100mm under the soil. Another third is to replace timber fences which were erected when the first farms were cleared and fenced in the early 1900's. And the rest new or divisional fences to control of proper pasture grazing and stock control. As my business is operated under DAFF regulations for forest harvesting I make sure only the best quality is supplied. Recently purchasing my own sawmill and am applying for CoC certification, for a greener world. I have the only comercially operated in North Queensland " Effulent Pump " for the pumping of dairy & piggery waste pits. The Malanda Landcare Group have approved the enviromently friendly way in which the waste is than broadcast over pasture, and does not make it's way into our waterway's which would have ended up on our beautieful " Great Barrier Reef ". I started " Bull At A Gate Fencing " in July, 2005. Than in 2006 after " Cyclone Larry ", I bought a logging plant. than adding " Logging " to my name. Later that year I married long time Rural Fencer & Timber Cutter Chris Emerson. 3 of my children work for me as well. In 2012 I added the " Effulent Pumping " to my profile, and at the same time purchasing a Sawmill. So now my business does the whole process, so the but ends at me. I take great pride in my work and strive to alway's get the very best result possible at an honest and affordable price. So come on give me a go !!!
No state or commonwealth licence has been tied to this business in our public sources. This is common for unlicensed trades or for businesses that have not yet been resolved against a jurisdictional register.
Public records are uneven by nature. Stronger records make operating claims easier to inspect. Thin records make the gaps obvious. Evidence beats explanation.
See methodology for how the index resolves duplicates, tiers evidence, and decides what to publish.
