Welcome to Burringbar Botanic Gardens Nursery. The nursery specially caters for the constant requests for native species rarely available in the nursery trade. We are increasing our growing facility at Burringbar in the wet subtropics of far north-eastern NSW (just over 100km south of Brisbane) where water is plentiful and the winters mild (usually). First plantings of Burringbar Botanic Gardens began in February 1994 by Kristopher Kupsch, an avid botanical enthusiast who has been studying Australian native plants for twenty years. Kristopher has been fortunate enough to associate with many persons in the field of Botany and Horticulture, thus has accumulated many unique plants. The majority of species grown have been trialled in the ground for over 15 years within the subtropical climate of north-eastern NSW. This allows for good judgement of species requirements especially those generally considered to demand tropical conditions. Since embracing this interest, Kristopher has planted over 5 acres of rainforest arboreta, containing over 1500 species of Australian plants. Kristopher’s continued passion for plants has seen him cultivate rare and threatened species and thus broaden the knowledge base for those assisting in preserving such species within the wild. He also has a growing interest in non-Australian species such as Platycerium, Pandanus, Plumeria, Rhododendron, Cordylines, Palms and Cycads. Apart from the nursery Kristopher is self employed as a Botanist and Environmental consultant where he undertakes plant surveys on various vegetation within NSW and Queensland. Clients include Universities, Companies and Private residences.
No state or commonwealth licence has been tied to this business in our public sources. This is common for unlicensed trades or for businesses that have not yet been resolved against a jurisdictional register.
Public records are uneven by nature. Stronger records make operating claims easier to inspect. Thin records make the gaps obvious. Evidence beats explanation.
See methodology for how the index resolves duplicates, tiers evidence, and decides what to publish.
If this is your business, you can claim the record to add a verified contact, licence anchor, and service area.
