(if you have chemicals on site we won't charge you to put them in) Other chemicals & services that are chargeable are: labour is then charged @$19 per 15 mins to vacuum, hose out cartridge filters Cleaning of Salt Chlorinator Cell (non self-cleaning units) - from $22 Chemicals not on site as required by test results taken. Please dont hesitate to call for a quote before hand, but please have basic information as to volume of water, condition of water, equipment on site and any other factors effecting the water such as Dog that swims, Shade cover or Waterfalls etc. so we can give you an accurate idea of costing of services. Chemical cost cannot be determined without a water test. About Us It all started back in 1997, Owner Lyn Kelso moved into house with a spa plunge pool. She battled to keep the water healthy for some months, when by chance Lyn met a lady with a revolutionary product called Pool Poppits. Kalika promised the end of her swimming pool woes. Which Lyn's family were happy to report was a success! Even when for unknown reason the filter tank split in the middle of the night. While waiting for the warranty agent to fix the faulty filter, one of their service technicians went to put 5lts or Chlorine & 5ltrs of Acid to "hold the water for the week it would be out of action". Lyn emphatically told the technician this would not be necessary as there was an active algicide in the water. He made a funny look and must have been thinking 'this woman must be mad' and said "it'll be green when i come back". When that same technician came back a week later to install the new filter tank he asked what we had done to keep the water so clear. Lyn told him "nothing at all, I stirred the water manual once during that time". The service technician ate his words and was amazed that the water was in the same state as it was a week earlier with no filtration - something you cant do in Darwin's tropical climate. Since that day, Lyn decided to add the Pool Poppit to her range of business activities. Her main business being letterbox distribution and general printing. After a short time, customers started requesting water testing and other balancing chemicals and so Friendly Pool & Spa Care came into being. Lyn's idea was to have as little chemicals in the water as possible to still sanitise the water and make it safe for swimming but not be floating in a chemical bath. Many clients agree with this way of keeping their pools happy and the business bloomed and took on general maintenance and filtration installations and problem solving.
