About Us History Goodwin Midson is a Queensland based firm offering services to the public in the town planning and surveying disciplines. Commencing as a sole practitioner consulting business in 1951, the practice was incorporated as Hillmir Pty Ltd in 1964. The firm has evolved over time to the modern practice of today, managed and owned by the present four Directors. It has developed a reputation for providing excellent service in all aspects of the land development industry, with town planning becoming increasingly more important in recent times. The firm offers services in all aspects of town planning and surveying with associated project management to private individuals, developers, other professionals, Local, State and Federal Government Departments. Structure The services offered by the firm are carried out by skilled staff who participate in continuing professional development and are supported by modern equipment and the latest proven methods and techniques. Professional staff includes: Licensed Surveyors, Engineering Surveyors, Town Planners, CAD Drafters, Computer Specialists, Accounting and Administration Staff. With its head office in Toowong, Goodwin Midson has branch offices on the Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay and Boonah. In the past, it has also operated branch offices at Port Moresby, Mackay and Dalby. After more than 40 years in the same office, Goodwin Midson’s head office has recently moved into a more modern and practical building, still situated at Toowong. The new office offers room for expansion and has improved parking, client facilities and staff amenities. The firm is a founding member of Consulting Surveyors, Queensland and actively participates in that body’s activities. Quality Assurance The firm is a Certified Quality Assured Company (Certificate No. 1166), which meets the requirements of International Standard AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000. Services Town Planning Our Services GMP specialises in providing professional town planning and development advice to public and private sector clients within South East Queensland and across the State. Our town planning services include: Planning & Development Advice – Initial planning advice (including Due Diligence reports) provides our clients with an indication of a property’s development potential based on the planning scheme, State and legislative requirements. We can also identify key issues at this early stage. Conceptual Design / Master Planning / Structure Planning – Our town planners have ongoing involvement master planning for Kawana Waters and preparing structure plans for various smaller scale residential and industrial projects. Statutory Planning / Development Applications – Our extensive knowledge of a range of planning schemes and the Integrated Planning Act enables us to prepare and submit comprehensive development applications and ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients. Environmental Planning – The GMP town planning team now includes a fully qualified environmental scientist with extensive experience in development projects in environmentally sensitive areas or requiring approvals under the Environmental Protection Act, Coastal Protection and Management Act, Fisheries Act, Vegetation Management Act and Water Act, as well as in recycled water scheme planning for master-planned residential communities. Environmental Assessment / Management – Our in-house environmental personnel are able to assist with environmental impact assessments, ecological assessment, vegetation mapping and survey, and preparation of environmental management plans to accompany development applications. Submissions / Court Appeals – We provide advice and assistance to the public in preparing submissions for and against development applications, and we have been involved in preliminary work for appeals to the Planning and Environment Court.
