Back to Base Monitoring Monitoring of your security system means that a Security Control Room will actively communicate with your system to ensure that it is working effectively. There are a number of ways this can happen. Back to Base Dial Up Using your existing phone line the Security Control Room will dial up your alarm system on a regular basis to ensure the phone line is working correctly. If there is no signal, which could be caused by a number of reasons, such as a Telstra line fault, or a Burgular has cut the line, you or your nominated contact will be notified immediately that there is a problem with the line. In the event that an alarm signal is generated by your system, the phone line will transmit the issue to the Security Control Room, who will then respond accordingly. You choose whether the initial response is just a phone call to let you know, or whether a Patrol or the Police should be notified to attend. You decide what action should be taken. GSM This service is similar to the above except there is no need for a land line phone line. This service uses mobile phone technology. As a result, if your property or business does not have a phone line, you will still receive the same level of protection from the Security Control Room. Having the Security Control Room linked to your alarm system will also enable you to be notified if there any problems with your system, such as a low battery or any sensor issues that you may not have previously noticed. They are also able to provide you with a number of reports on the security of your property/business so that you know exactly who has been in there and when, for example; Logging of opening and closing times Maintenance Whatever type of security system you have, it is highly recommended that in order to achieve the highest level of protection, you should get it serviced on a regular basis. A full maintenance check at least once every two years would be advisable. Different seasons throughout the year can affect your system in various ways and over the years there are increasing instances of interferance and damage to cabling, power supplies and sensors, caused by everything from storm damage to insects and mice. Some of the problems that can occur are - Triggering sensors - Having your system maintained by one of our expert Technicians means they will; INSPECT AND TEST THE OPERATION OF YOUR CONTROL PANEL CHECK THE OPERATION AND INTEGRITY OF THE SIGNALING EQUIPMENT WITH THE MONITORING CENTRE INSPECT AND TEST ALL DETECTION POINTS INCLUDING SENSORS, CAMERAS, AUDIBLE ALARMS CHECK THE OPERATION OF CCTV AND ACCESS CONTROL SYSTEMS ENSURING LENSES ARE CORRECTLY FOCUSED, FIELD OF VIEW IS CORRECT INSPECT THE CONDITION OF ALL VISIBLE WIRING AND CONDUITS TEST AND REPLACE IF NECESSARY POWER SUPPLIES AND BATTERIES Maintaining your Security System on a regular basis will not only make it last longer but will give you added peace of mind that you are fully protected. A small selection of our recommended cameras are shown below. DVR's Another important aspect of your CCTV equipment is the Digital Video Recording (DVR) system. A DVR is a device that will record and store analogue video signals digitally from your cameras onto hard disks. Depending on the model of DVR you can set it to record at different resolutions and frame rates. You can then view either live images or the recorded video on location or remotely via a network link. Hybrid DVR’s display & record a mix of analogue and IP cameras. It is important to ensure you choose the right DVR that will give you the required playback time, the clearest picture possible and ease of use to burn the required footage onto disc in the event that a third party needs it i.e. the Police following an incident. Our team of expert Technicians will be able to provide all the options and advice you will need in order to choose the right CCTV equipment for your needs and can be on hand to help you copy footage as and when required. Access Control If you are looking for a product which not only monitors who is moving in and out of certain areas but also restricts access and blocks unwelcome visitors then Access Control should be part of your security system. Your Access Control system will provide you with a completely secure workplace by identifying and verifying an individual’s level of authorisation and then only allowing access where preprogrammed to. This not only protects your property but also your employees, assets and information. It gives you flexibility to secure different areas with different access levels within one building and you can also receive reports on people’s movements. Access control points are usually positioned around a facility’s perimeter near vehicular gates, turnstiles, building entry points, doors into rooms and other special areas within a building. There are many different types of access control systems including swipe cards, pin codes, biometrics and proximity card readers. Choosing which type is the best one for your property and business is easy – simply let our Security Specialist guide you through your options. Duress Alarms Do you work in an environment where you or your staff may be at risk of attacks or abuse from either patients, clients or the general public? Or do you live alone and worry about falls or your health. If either of these situations apply to you, you may benefit from having a Duress Alarm fitted to your work or home. A Duress Alarm can come in a variety of forms, from a Medical pendant to an under the counter button. Whichever you choose, you can be assured that by activating the alarm you will have automatically notified someone of your emergency situation and that help will be on its way. Our Insight Protection Solutions expert will be able to talk through with you your exact requirements and then recommend a product to suit your needs. Things to think about when choosing a Duress Alarm; What sort of coverage do you need? The type of alarm you get should depend on whether you need the alarm to just send a signal to another part of a room, building or site or city. What sort of activation switch do you need? Do want the alarm to go off only when a button is deliberately pushed or do you need it to automatically activate itself i.e. a man-down tilt switch, or a no-motion detection switch. These in particular have a built-in switch which will detect if the wearer is lying down or motionless. Who do you want to receive an alert message? Do you want an alert to go silently to a Monitoring Control Room who will contact the responders of your choice i.e. police or a patrol. Or would you prefer a loud audible alarm to sound in order to attract as much attention to you as possible. Did you need a visual alert such as a flashing strobe light to attract attention for those with hearing difficulties or did you want an SMS message sent to an individual’s mobile phone or reception computer. With full access to the most up to date products on the market, let our expert consultant help you ensure you, your employees and your family are fully covered in the case of an emergency.
