ABOUT O’SHEA’S Carpet Cleaning was started in 1990 by Mr Sean O’Shea. Sean migrated from Ireland to Australia as a teenager. Sean was not afraid of hard work and felt that Australia would reward him for his efforts. Upon arriving in Australia, Sean set out as a door-to-door salesman and it was the income from this that bought Sean his first set of carpet cleaning equipment. It was the experience from this that gave Sean the skills and values that he would take with him for life. A salesman working with Sean told him of how rewarding the carpet cleaning business could be so he decided to give it a try. Despite some initial hardships, he persevered and it did not take long for Sean to build a strong customer base that would pave the way for things to come. During the initial years, Sean worked predominantly alone. His customers generally came from his efforts knocking on doors and, from here, a flow of customers came from word of mouth. He prided himself on doing the job properly – no short cuts – and created strong relationships with all of his customers. Customers who still use O’SHEA’S Carpet Cleaning 20 years on. As more business started to roll in, Sean worked with a number of casual staff to ensure he was able to meet the demands of his growing customer base. Up until this point, the focus had primarily been on domestic carpet cleaning. As the demand for services from O’SHEA’S Carpet Cleaning increased, a number of commercial customers started to come on board. Many of these clients were retail outlets in shopping malls that saw Sean working and were impressed with his efforts. These clients still use O’SHEA’S Carpet Cleaning 19 years on.
