About us energy, enthusiasm and knowledge early career pauls career path started at an early age when he helped his mother in the garden. it wasn’t until his late teens he took up his first paid job assisting in horticultural maintenance of some of adelaide's premier residences. during this period paul was lucky enough to gain an apprenticeship with the adelaide botanic gardens, where his practical skills were developed. paul was predominantly based at mt lofty, however spent time at the adelaide, wittunga and mt tomah botanic gardens where key mentors added to his expanding repertoire. after completing his apprenticeship paul was offered a permanent position working under his mentor on fern gully, south america, new zealand and africa sections of the gardens. further studies paul left the gardens in 1999, and after a brief stint in tree surgery, took up a position in one of adelaide’s oldest nurseries in the eastern suburbs. here pauls energy, enthusiasm and knowledge proved an excellent asset. it was when working here paul furthered his skills by studying a diploma in garden design. this led to pauls next position as a consultant/designer at another leading adelaide nursery. award winning in 2007 paul decided to go it alone and combine his horticulture, design and construction experience to form paul jackson gardens. paul jackson gardens is now an award winning garden design company. the business has vast experience in consulting, design and construction of residential projects. paul works closely with his clients to ensure their needs are met and the results are extraordinary. more recently paul has branched out into commercial projects, building gardens for schools and kindergartens across adelaide. membership landscape sa (landscape association of south australia) mediterranean garden society builders licence (bld 226313) Services we tailor solutions for you paul jackson gardens’ provides a personalised, professional and exceptional quality service to our clients to meet their individual needs. our goal is to create impressive and inspiring solutions for everyday living that are timeless. we are able to offer a full range of services anywhere from design to construction and anything in between. paul proudly puts his name to all his gardens. horticultural consultation paul conducts on-site consultations to meet clients, study the property and the client’s needs/wishes and is able to impart his extensive plant knowledge and advice relevant to the client. paul also conducts plant education sessions at some of adelaide’s leading nurseries. paul holds a trade level certificate in horticulture and was one of the lucky few to study his 4 year certificate in the adelaide botanic gardens. design paul is able to design a garden in any space accommodating any budget. paul can provide a full design service which includes a holistic approach to the entire space outside the home. the design process includes a nursery visit to ensure the client is involved in plant selection and the design can accommodate whims and fancies (where appropriate). paul can also produce less detailed and therefore cost and time efficient ‘mud maps’ which only incorporate designs for planting spaces or ‘soft-scapes’. paul has been awarded by the landscape association for his designs. landscape construction paul ensures our workmanship is of the upmost quality, taking no shortcuts and undertakes the appropriate preparations for all construction works. paul has been awarded by the landscape association for his constructions. paul is happy to construct other designer’s works and can quote straight from drawings (provided they are to scale). plant brokerage & installation we can source and supply plants at request (see our plant sales page) we can also install plants and will guarantee plants to establishment if we undertake soil preparation & install automatic irrigation. expert pruning paul is adept at all forms of pruning and training including espalier work, pleaching, topiary work (including clouding, cones, corkscrews), roses, wisteria and spur pruning for fruit trees. irrigation we can install irrigation using the latest water-wise technologies available for both garden and turf areas. paving we can supply and lay paving, with special attention paid to the preparation. we attend to and are licensed for all forms of paving including brick, small and large format, pool coping and decorative sets. water features installation of custom and prefabricated water features. walling feature walling and retention including limestone (dry stacked & mortared), stone, re-constituted sandstone, sleeper walls and boulders (sandstone, limestone and bluestone). We recommend paul jackson gardens for all your landscape/gardening requirements. click here to view this garden's gallery. click here to view this garden's gallery >>> ann, semaphore front and back garden from scratch we contacted paul jackson gardens to design and install a garden at our beachfront home in semaphore. we had very high expectations of paul as we had seen his work in the suburb. we were not disappointed! after living in the property for 2 years with only a sand dune at the back to boast of, we knew we wanted something with the ‘wow’ factor, yet low maintenance; something with variation and interest, yet drought tolerant; something we could interact with that would provide alternate living areas. we got that and more! paul took our original idea of having timber decking at the front of the property, and installed recycled timbers from the largs bay pier. this is absolutely magical as we now have a piece of history in our front garden from which we can admire the view. he interpreted our idea for a set of steps in the rear and brilliantly placed slabs of slate and gorgeous boulders to give us an exciting and enticing living space. our small backyard grew in size and the varied levels have made it such an interesting and comfortable place to relax and entertain. we relied totally on paul to select plants that would thrive in the difficult beach environment and he got it right. everything is growing and thriving and looking spectacular. the other real positive in our experience with paul was the professional manner in which he and his staff completed the job. they were friendly, courteous and respectful and took real pride in their work, as do we. we have no hesitation in recommending paul jackson gardens to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary! click here to view this garden's gallery >>> Plant Sales finding the best plants for your garden paul jackson has extensive horticultural expertise and is able to offer customers individual plant selection and the supply of quality plants. paul jackson gardens can offer the following services: direct plant sales onsite horticultural consultation plant supply and installation (including soil preparation and guarantee) we will supply a quote for the supply of plants free of charge onsite consultations are charged at $198 (including gst) for an hour appointment including plant list. installation quotes are supplied free of charge and will detail any necessary soil preparation paul is often heard saying "you don’t put a $10 plant in a 10 cent hole"
