Our Business: Planet Urban was established in 2003 to provide professional independent and specialist town planning advice and services to architects and other professionals, proponents of development, local councils and their residents on a range of town planning and development related matters. Planet Urban specialises in providing planning advice and services in relation to development throughout the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, encompassing the Local Government Areas of Randwick, Waverley, Woollahra, Botany and Sydney City. This focus has allowed our business to develop a greater knowledge and understanding of the local development controls which apply in these areas, which provide real and direct benefits to our clients. We can also recommend, engage and/or co-ordinate input from other professionals including architects and draftspersons, landscape architects, urban designers, surveyors, heritage and traffic consultants, NatHERS/BASIX assessors, etc. appropriate to the nature and scale of the development project. Our Experience: Planet Urban's Principal Planner, Steven Hughes has over 25 years experience as a professional town planner, having worked initially within local goverment and in more recent years as a private consultant to a number of Sydney councils (including Randwick City, Sydney City and Willoughby Councils), SPD Town Planners, as an Associate of David Crane and Associates Planning and Development Consultants, and to a number of architectural firms including Habitat Architects, Jim Demetriou Group, Geoform Design Architects, Adriann Winton Architects, Barry Rush and Associates, Hill Thalis Architects, McGregor Westlake Architecture, Thomson Adsett Architects and GSA Architects, chartered architects and building designers. Steven has lived in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs for all of his life and has a strong familiarity with and knowledge of the local area.
