About Us Pod is a small but professional garden design and landscaping firm headed by Al Radovanovic, who has close to 20 years’ experience in the industry. Pod specializes in the design and construction of inner city urban landscapes—both residential and commercial. Whether it’s invigorating a tired garden or starting from scratch, whether it’s a balcony or a courtyard, or a kitchen or a beer garden, we listen to your wishes and design you a solution that meets your personality, lifestyle, needs and budget. Al started his career as a trainee gardener at the Royal Melbourne Zoo. A qualified horticulturist, he has worked for award-winning landscaping firms and leading nurseries. Along with excellent knowledge of plants and their requirements, he has extensive experience in designing and creating the supporting structural elements (paving, decking, retaining walls, gazebos, etc) that give an outdoor space its form and foundation. Pod is also developing a range of modular garden elements, including planter boxes, wall planters and benches. ‘Pod Mods’ are ideal for balconies, rooftops and courtyards, and as kerbside dividers. What we do THE DESIGN PROCESS 1. Initial Consultation / Client brief The design of your garden begins with an initial meeting on site. We will assess the existing site conditions and together establish the initial brief by understanding your aesthetic, functional and budgetary requirements. Feel free to collect any pictures and any other items that will act as a visual prompt to give a general feel for what you want. It is essential to us that your wishes and requirements are understood as clearly as possible right from the very beginning. 2. Design Concept Plan The next stage is to conduct a thorough site analysis; taking levels and measurements of the site, soil analysis and noting existing structures and vegetation. Based on the initial brief we’ll develop the concept plan outlining the proposed landscape design, listing plants, materials and any structural elements to be used. 3. Detailed Documentation After consultation and confirmation that you are happy with the concept plan the next step is to prepare the master plan. This will include a comprehensive report as well as preparation of the following where relevant: A plan that details the layout of all hard (paving, decking etc.) and soft (vegetation) elements of the garden, a materials schedule and construction specifications Planting plan that shows the layout of the plants within the garden along with a species list, quantities and sizes Construction details and elevation drawings A breakdown of the costing for the project 4. Construction Pod can manage the project from the initial design through to the fully completed garden. We will coordinate a team of professional contractors to ensure your garden is constructed to the highest possible standards and maintains the integrity of the design. Alternatively you may wish to engage your own contractors, who we’d be more than happy to brief and liaise with. CONSULTATION STAND ALONE We also offer a basic consultation service for those after just a little advice. We can make recommendations and give advice on pest and disease management, soil health, plant selection, irrigation and drainage as well as structural elements in the garden. MAINTENANCE Pod also offers a one-off or regular maintenance service. We can take care of pruning, weeding, mowing, seasonal planting, rubbish removal, mulching etc. RATES N.B. Public records are uneven by nature. Stronger records make operating claims easier to inspect. Thin records make the gaps obvious. Evidence beats explanation.
