ABOUT Skippens Landscape & Building Supplies is located in the Eastern Suburbs and has been serving Greater Sydney for over 85 years!! Skippens Landscape & Building Supplies was founded about 85 years ago, by Roy Skippen. In those early days, delivery was originally made by horse and cart, later by earlier versions of motorised lorries. Sands were shovelled on and off the trucks, using a very large hand shovel, capable of about 20kg of material per shovel. Times were hard for workers, in those days. Along the way the company worked from a number of locations, the most memorable probably it's "Alma Road" site, right in the heart of Maroubra. About 20 years later, Roy's two sons Bruce & Bob joined the business, and later years run the business through the second generation, adding additional services and products along the way. This was at a time when the "eastern suburbs" was first being developed. The "Skippens boys" were widely known, both by local builders and the general community, as they were very hands-on, doing lots of identifiable excavation projects, now part of eastern suburbs history. In 1991 Bob and Bruce retired. The third generation of Skippens management continued to grow the business, primarily by changing to a larger location, a vast increase to the number of delivery vehicles, and further extending its product range to be a "one-stop" building supplies company, servicing "all trades". The current management continues to pride itself on a level of service unequalled by our competitors, quality products and competitive prices. We are proud to be the longest established supplier in the Eastern suburbs, and most probably for the entire greater metropolitan area for over eighty years.
