Salt Damp in the walls can also be related to the above, or be an entirely independent problem. Our Expert Consultants, trained in Shower leaks as well as Salt Damp Curing, through our Tech-Dry connection, will endeavor to find the cause of the problem and provide you with a Total Solution. Once the cause of the problem of your shower recess has been established by either yourself or one of our consultants, you may simply choose one or more of our Self Diagnosis What do you look for? Loose or drummy tiles, especially at the base of the shower recess. Drummy tiles can easily be detected by tapping the tile surface with a coin. If you hear a high pitched 'ping' sound, the tiles are generally solid. However, if the sound is a lower pitch and has a dull sound, the tiles are usually hollow and have lost adhesion from the wall. Movement at the shower base allowing water to seep into the wall - often shown by the sealant losing contact with the tiles, or a crack in the grouting, which is often accompanied by a build up of mould etc. Poor grouting between the tiles, or lack of it, allowing water to penetrate into the wall.
