Skylights Allowing natural light into our living space has been important pretty much since building began. It started with windows, and then the technology developed. The Europeans developed lights shelves and mirrors to catch more light and make the windows more effective. The roof window, made various appearances in major buildings. Modern materials have allowed daylighting to progress and there are now many options to bring natural light into the living space. This includes clerestory windows, straight open sheeting, light tubes, and a variety of different shaped skylights. They can be clear, or opaque, or decorated. Skylights can be vented or non-vented as well. The basis of the technology requires there to be a collector of light - exposed to the sun, and transmission medium (duct, tube, or well), and a diffuser. Domestic Roof Ventilation Turbines - Whirlybirds Between your living space and the sky is the roof space. This area serves to keep the house from getting too hot or cold. The problem is that this area can get too hot, and so your home begins to absorb the heat. A roof ventilation turbine is an excellent way to resolve the problem. They work very effectively, firstly because a small opening in the roof is actually made a lot bigger by the vents on the side, and although hot air rises, the rotation actually adds to the hot air being drawn from the roof cavity. They also add to the comfort of the house in winter by drawing moist air from the roof cavity, helping to keep the house drier and more comfortable. Sub Floor Vents Sub Floor Vents have become important of many renovations today. When house are built, they will as a matter of course include weep holes and and air holes to allow the passage of air under the floor. Over time things happen to the house, and often one by one, what was once adequate ventilation is compromised. This means that the air under the house is not circulating correctly, which can often lead to a house feeling uncomfortable or musty or even a bit dank, and odd patches of mould start to appear. Fan driven Sub Floor Ventilation can be a sensible way to address concerns in the area and allow the house to be fresher from the ground up. Range Hood Ducting We need to cook, and when we cook there are lots of odours, smoke and fumes given off that we don't need filling the living space. Re-circulating hoods can be effective only when filters are cleaned or changed on a regular basis. More often than not they are out of sight and out of mind and become clogged with grease and fat residues. Over a period of time excess fats end up settling on top of cupboards and surrounding areas. The ducting of the hood ,as important as it is, is usually the most overlooked and avoided topics in the design of your kitchen. Plumbers electricians, and builders often don't want to know about it. Some rangehood retailers might sell you the appliance and that is all, some kitchen companies might sell you the kitchen and avoid discussing the ducting as it is an extra expense. This is how Swansea Skylights became involved in ducting many years ago. A kitchen comany was at a loss as to who could install their ducting from start to finish. They called us and the rest is history. Effective rangehood ducting can efficiently remove the residues from your kitchen quickly and cleanly, this may be achieved by either ducting via the roof or an outside wall or the eaves. For best results the shortest straightest run is prefered. Your best options can be determined with an obligation free site inspection by simply calling or emailing David at Swansea Skylights.

Public records are uneven by nature. Stronger records make operating claims easier to inspect. Thin records make the gaps obvious. Evidence beats explanation.
