About Us The Marble & Granite Fitters Cairns is a wholly locally and family owned operated company headed by Ivan and Jo Gomizel. While both are involved in the general day to day running of the business, Ivan also manages the estimating, new business development, project management and oversees the stone mason crew. In order to keep the overheads low and the company competitive, Ivan and Jo operate a streamlined office with Jo heading up the administration, sales and marketing section with the assistance of a sub-contracting bookkeeper. They are accustomed to working closely with their clients in an open and transparent environment to ensure that quality, budget and delivery requirements are achieved at all times. The Marble & Granite Fitters Cairns also has an excellent track record with Industrial Relations. The key to their success is open communication and negotiation in order to prevent disputes and manage successful outcomes. Industry Experience Ivan has 23 years experience in the building industry. He and his brother Mario established (1993) and successfully ran Advanced Sawing & Drilling Pty Ltd in Melbourne and saw that company grow from humble garage beginnings to the largest concrete cutting company in Victoria in only four years. The company became known as the most prestigious company serving all areas of concrete cutting, sawing and drilling and retained that position for an outstanding seven years. Whilst Director of Advanced Sawing & Drilling Pty Ltd, Ivan also personally worked on the Burnley Tunnel, Spencer Street Station, Crown Casino, Federation Square and the Docklands projects; major developments in Melbourne. Jo’s background was in the pharmaceutical industry, spending 11 years as a Pharmacy Assistant/Pharmacy Dispensing Technician. Her strong work ethic and positive approach to life saw her take out the AIM Australian Institute Management awards Finalist Owner Manager of the Year 2007 Award. Jo and Ivan have both developed a strong network of relationships with key players in the construction industry. In Our Spare Time The birth of The Marble & Granite Fitters Cairns began when Ivan and Jo decided to move to Cairns in 2005. Married for 22 years, they have two musically gifted teenage kids, one who attends Cairns State High School and the other University. Ivan is known to relax over a game of golf and has won numerous prized trophies. His favourite golf club in the tropics is Paradise Palms at Kewarra where, although not often, he can be spotted playing a round or two with a client or supplier. Jo is known to relax in nature running (she ran 10km and 21km running events for 8 years) and walking with the odd book in hand. They are proud to be community supporters of the Cairns & District Junior Eisteddfod and local charity events. Our Stone Masons In order to maintain our proud reputation we only employ trained experienced staff who use only the most accurate machinery and equipment. These factors are essential to our continual superior workmanship and end product. Our talented team of hand picked stone masons work with the motto “Together Everyone Achieves More”, focusing their artistic workmanship magic in the factory providing quality stone bench tops with pride for our great tropical region of Queensland. The Marble & Granite Fitters Cairns employs five stone masons, two of whom have been with the company since its inception, and one third-year apprentice. They all have a keen interest in the field of stone masonry and have spent many hours completing their instruction in the areas of reading blueprints, layout drawing and math. Regular meetings are held with all our staff to ensure that our high quality standards are achieved and maintained. In addition, The Marble & Granite Fitters Cairns are committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace for our workers. Accordingly, our practises are continually being assessed to ensure that we recognise the ever-changing legislative requirements.

Public records are uneven by nature. Stronger records make operating claims easier to inspect. Thin records make the gaps obvious. Evidence beats explanation.
